Can I leave the sample in my mailbox?

Yes, you can leave your packaged sample in your home mailbox for USPS to pick it up. The stability of your sample (how long it can remain on the sponge before it needs to be tested at the lab) has been extensively tested for temperature and time limits.

Temperature testing involved putting the sample through extreme cold and heat temperatures (14F to 104F) – if it is within these temperatures where you live, it should fine to place in your mailbox. If it’s much hotter or colder than 14F to 104F, consider bringing the package to a USPS office or scheduling a USPS pick up for the day you plan to self-collect.

The sample has also been tested for a specified period of time, and the lab has a process for accepting samples received within this timeframe. This is why we ask you to mail your sample via USPS within 24 hours of collecting it.

You will find a QR code on the return shipping mailer, which you can scan to schedule a USPS pickup or find the nearest USPS office.
