[Can I Use the Teal Wand If...](https://support.getteal.com/can-i-use-the-teal-wand-if?hsLang=en) # Can I use the Teal Wand if I had an abnormal HPV test or Pap smear in the past? In most cases, yes, you should be able to use the Teal Wand even if you have had an abnormal Pap smear or HPV test in the past. However, it is important that you let your Teal provider know about your prior cervical cancer screening results in your screening history form and during your Intro Visit. Your provider will be able to discuss this with you in more detail, and you can work together to decide which screening option is best for you. In some instances, per medical [guidelines](https://journals.lww.com/jlgtd/fulltext/2025/04000/self_collected_vaginal_specimens_for_hpv_testing_.6.aspx), you may not be eligible to screen with Teal given your prior screening results. This includes if you have had a LEEP or cold knife procedure for moderate to severe precancerous changes (HSIL, CIN2, CIN3, atypical glandular cells) in the past 25 years.
