Just like the doctor’s office, we test your vaginal sample for fourteen types of high-risk HPV: 16, 18, and twelve others (which Teal reports as ‘HPV Other’). We do this using the FDA-approved [Roche cobas® primary HPV test](https://diagnostics.roche.com/se/sv/products/params/cobas-hpv.html). HPV 16 and 18 are the highest risk types, which means that if they are left without proper follow-up care, these types are most commonly associated with cervical cancers over time. The twelve ‘HPV Other’ types less commonly cause cancers, but are still considered high-risk types that need appropriate follow-up care to ensure you stay healthy. All the HPV types we test for require follow-up care to look for changes on the cervix from the HPV infection.
