Can I use the Teal Wand if I have had very painful Pap smears or vaginismus?
We have seen many patients with vaginismus, vaginal syndromes, and extremely painful Pap smear experiences (almost 20% of those who have screened with Teal so far), and they have all been able to complete their self-collection using the Teal Wand. You can take your time, go slow, and do this at a pace that is comfortable for you. While we did not specifically study vaginismus in our clinical trial, fewer than 2% of participants reported mild discomfort when using the Wand. When you meet with the Teal medical provider during your Intro Visit, they will be able to address any questions or concerns you might have about using the Wand, and can guide you on some tips on how to make the experience more comfortable.
Hear what screening with Teal was like for one of our customers who shares her experience with vaginismus:
“I was dreading getting a Pap smear. I have a condition called vaginismus. I also have a lot of past trauma and things around my body...(Screening with Teal) took me 3 minutes....Knowing that it was safe and comfortable and easy was something I never actually thought could happen.”
