Should I go to the bathroom or clean myself before collecting my sample?

It is not required that you go to the bathroom or clean your vagina before collecting a sample with the Teal Wand. However, please wash and dry your hands prior to collecting and/or wear the gloves provided.

If you have symptoms of a vaginal infection like increased vaginal discharge, itching, burning, new odor, pain during sex or urination and think you may have a vaginal infection, you should wait until it has cleared and/or you have finished treatment before collecting your sample. You should also avoid using vaginal products 48 hours before collecting a sample (or 1 week before screening if you have used Metronidazole Vaginal Gel).
